Nowata Depot Cafe in Nowata

Food was great and definitely bringing the family up for a lunch. I really liked it as staff was very friendly.

They have the best chicken fried steak I have ever had.

Ordered orange juice. Very common to have on hand. Well I was told that it was bad. Then noticed that no one employee in the restaurant was wearing a face mask.

The food was well made, the aesthetic is quaint but comfortable and the staff is friendly. I had the chicken fried chicken and was very pleased with the flavor, the crispy breading, and the not overwhelming taste of the simple made gravy. Side choices are a little odd including things like cottage cheese or peaches, but one will also find classic favorites such as fries or mash. The selection for dessert is cinnamon buns or the "pie of the day". Which you will need to inquire with the staff to find out the flavor of.All in all a pleasant dining experience, "if not a modern one". Its nice to see that the old style diners where the emphasis is on the food not the look is still alive. If I should find my self in the area again I will definitely be returning.

We eat here everytime we are passing through. Always good food and great service. It's definitely some hometown, made-from-scratch cooking, but I've always liked everything I've tried here. It's an old train depot and trains still pass by every now and then. Fun, small town place to eat.

Walked in at 9:45 am to get breakfast before a ballgame and sat there till 11 and had to walk out due to having t ok be at the game by noon. I understand that it takes time to cook the food, but having to wait an hour and seeing ou there that had come in behind us get their food before us is very frustrating. As a resident of nowata I will not be returning and will pass the word around about our experience and pray that they get better cooks for a more timely service!

Great homecooking! Very friendly staff! Fun watching trains. Open 6 days a week, ONLY closed saturdays for their hardworking staff!!

The food was excellent and the service was top notch. The cafe was clean and all tables were distant. Being in a old train depot made it a unique place. I will definitely eat there again when I am around the area.

This is the go to place in Nowata, OK. Great atmosphere, great food and even better service! The decor is western and railroad themed as it is an old RR Depot. They have daily lunch and dinner specials! I have never had a bad experience in this establishment. They are closed on Saturdays. I stop here just about anytime I'm through this area.

I have since moved away from this area, but any time I'm back the Depot is my must visit! Love seeing all the friendly elderly people at breakfast, and enjoy their chicken fried steak and homemade pies at lunch!!

Great people. Brought my four young children in and was very well accommodated. Incredibly friendly. Had coloring books and crayons and such. Historical building. The train goes by the window. Rather loud but neat to show my kids. Great food as always. Good portions. Will be back.

Always good food and great service only problem is it takes awhile to get your food but then again it's not a fast food restaurant its home cooking

UPDATE: We enjoy the Nowata Depot Cafe, located in the old train depot. The food is very good as is the history and decor of the Depot itself. They used to have a big problem with flies but that seems to have been corrected. The last couple visits have been great. They serve wonderful home baked yeast rolls and have great desserts. I recommend the chicken strips but they have a nice selection of other items to choose from as well. Perhaps a train will come through while you're there. You'll get a nice upclose view as it soars past the windows.

Food was good, great wait staff.. trains go by very close it really was a train depot...how neat.

Food was what we thought it would be, good and fair portions. I wouldn't say super great, but I would go there again. We both ordered the chicken fried steak and two sides and a roll. Price was $8.99, so we had water as usual and the bill was a little less than $20. We liked the old time charm and the antiquity of it. Our waitress was courteous and serving, our order was correct. It was cold the day we went and it was a little chilly in the building. The restrooms are like the building, old, but clean and functional, very cold though. It really was a train depot with old town charm. I would recommend it if you are in the area.

Great food, great service and prices

This is a train depo from way back,year?I'ts really nice, plenty of tables, large or small to window tables. Kiddie chairs available. The food taste home-made! Roast beef to steaks to hot hamburgers to pork chops to fish! And more for dinner! They are also open for breakfast, they have a big variety on the breakfast menu also. COFFEE IS THE BEST IN TOWN! Good place to go. Right beside the railroad track of course. The rest rooms are nice and clean. The people are very friendly. Good place to eat.
